Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has launched the second generation of its popular compact SUV, the Hyundai Venue (codenamed QU2i), with an ambitious target of achieving 20% growth in its overall sales volume.
The new model, which arrived as a full-model change on November 4, 2025, is critical for HMIL, as the Venue is currently the company’s second best-selling vehicle in India, trailing only the Creta. The outgoing generation was a significant success, recording over 700,000 cumulative sales during its production run.
Major Upgrades: Platform, Safety, and Dimensions
The second-generation Venue is built on the Hyundai Group’s reinforced K1 chassis, moving away from the older K2 platform. This change is notable because the new platform is designed with robust crashworthiness in mind, utilizing up to 71% high-strength steel in critical areas. Furthermore, the compact SUV has grown slightly, featuring a longer wheelbase, increased width, and more height while still maintaining the crucial sub-four-meter length of 3,995mm.
Interior and Technology Overhaul
The cabin has received a substantial refresh. Key highlights include a sophisticated dashboard design and a dual 12.3-inch display setup, combining a curved touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The interior is finished in a dual-tone, dark blue-beige color scheme and includes new convenience features such as a single-pane sunroof, an electronically adjustable driver’s seat, and improved rear-seat legroom.
On the safety front, the new Venue sets a high standard by offering six airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard. It also incorporates advanced Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking, which significantly enhance overall vehicle safety.
Drivetrain Options and Performance
The powertrain lineup remains diverse, offering buyers three engine choices:
- A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
- A 1.0-litre turbo-GDI petrol engine.
- A 1.5-litre turbo-diesel unit.
The introduction of new transmission pairings, such as the GDI-manual and the diesel-automatic, is expected to be a major factor in driving the targeted sales growth. For enthusiasts, a sportier N-Line trim is also available, featuring distinct suspension tuning and styling elements.
Ultimately, the success of the new Venue will be pivotal in helping HMIL fend off stiff competition from domestic rivals like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra in the highly competitive Indian passenger vehicle market.
