YouTube Introduces ‘Hype’ Amplification Posts and Dedicated Filters for Member-Exclusive Content

YouTube is rolling out a set of new features designed to improve content discoverability for emerging creators and enhance the user experience for paying channel subscribers. These updates focus on boosting promotional tools through the “Hype” program and introducing specific content filters for member-only videos.

New Options for the ‘Hype’ Program

The platform is expanding its existing “Hype” program, which allows viewers to support eligible creators by allocating purchasable Hype points to their videos, increasing their visibility.

The primary addition to this program is the ability for users to create a dedicated “Hype post.” Once a viewer allocates Hype points to a video, they can now amplify that promotion by sharing the clip in a separate post on their own community and channel tabs. This action utilizes the viewer’s personal following to draw extra attention to the rising creator, providing an additional boost beyond the initial points allocation.

To further aid in discovery, YouTube has also launched Hype leaderboards. These leaderboards are sorted by different topic categories (such as gaming or beauty), allowing viewers to easily discover and track creators who are gaining traction within specific niches. While the Hype program is currently being expanded across various regions and is primarily available on mobile, YouTube has confirmed that the functionality will eventually be brought to desktop.

Dedicated Filters for Paying Subscribers

To improve the content consumption experience for paying audiences, YouTube is introducing new sorting functionality on channel pages.

The platform is rolling out “Members only” and “Public” filters for videos, Shorts, and live-streams within a channel’s content tabs. Previously, viewers could only sort content by basic parameters like “Latest,” “Popular,” and “Oldest.”

  • The new “Members only” filter is particularly useful for subscribers, allowing them to quickly isolate and access the exclusive content they have paid for.
  • The “Public” filter, conversely, enables all viewers to easily browse only the content that is accessible to everyone, excluding any member-exclusive posts.

This organizational update provides greater value to paid memberships by making exclusive content easier to find, thereby improving accessibility for a creator’s dedicated, paying audience.
