Accused in Meerut ‘Blue Drum’ Murder Case Names Newborn ‘Radha’ as In-Laws Demand DNA Paternity Test

A recent development has emerged in the high-profile Meerut “blue drum” murder case, as the primary accused, Muskan, who is currently incarcerated, gave birth to a daughter and named her Radha. The birth has spurred a fresh controversy, with the family of the deceased husband demanding a DNA test to confirm the child’s parentage.

Paternity Question Looms

The child was born on November 24th at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut. Coincidentally, the date marked what would have been the birthday of Muskan’s late husband, Saurabh Rajput. Muskan had previously informed jail authorities that she would have chosen the name Krishna if the baby had been a boy.

However, the Rajput family remains highly skeptical. Rahul, the brother of the deceased, confirmed the family’s intention to file a new court plea to mandate a DNA test for the newborn. Saurabh’s mother, Renu Rajput, supported the demand, stating the family would only accept the infant if the genetic testing proved Saurabh was the father. The family also reportedly requested a DNA test for Muskan’s elder daughter, insisting they would only take responsibility for the children if their biological link to Saurabh was established.

Hospital officials dismissed claims circulating that Muskan had deliberately timed the delivery to coincide with her late husband’s birthday, confirming that the onset of labor was a natural, unplanned event.

Details of the Murder Case

Muskan stands accused of the premeditated murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, which took place on the night of March 4th at their residence in Indiranagar, Meerut. Investigators allege that Muskan, in collaboration with her lover, Sahil Shukla, first drugged Saurabh, then stabbed him to death. The body was subsequently dismembered and sealed inside a cement-filled blue drum before the two allegedly fled the state. Police reports indicate Muskan had been planning the murder for several months, viewing Saurabh as an impediment to her relationship with Sahil.

Following the birth, hospital staff confirmed Muskan will soon be transferred back to the district jail. According to prison regulations, the infant is permitted to stay with her mother in the women’s barracks until the age of six and will receive necessary provisions and medical care from the prison administration.
