At the Hyundai India Couture Week (ICW) 2025, actor Arjun Rampal took center stage to pay a moving tribute to his late friend and fashion maestro, Rohit Bal. Rampal served as the showstopper for the designer’s latest collection, “Kash-Gul,” which was presented by the Rohit Bal team following the designer’s passing on November 1, 2024.
The “Kash-Gul” collection found its creative soul in the designer’s native land, drawing inspiration from the tranquil beauty of Kashmir and the literary artistry of Gulistan, which translates to “a garden of flowers.” The garments featured sumptuous Indian textiles, including Matka silk, Chanderi, and velvet, in a rich color scheme of deep wine, black, and ivory. The pieces were defined by layered silhouettes and adorned with complex detailing like fine threadwork and gold zardozi.
Rampal graced the runway in a distinguished black velvet kurta embellished with intricate silver embroidery. His walk included a heartfelt, silent homage: he paused mid-ramp to look up and point skyward in remembrance of the celebrated designer.
Later, addressing the media, the actor offered a powerful declaration, stating that “Legends never die.” He praised Rohit Bal’s approach to fashion, noting that the designer always believed in keeping the craft light and enjoyable. Rampal also shared a poignant, personal anecdote, revealing that the sherwani sent to him by the team carried a distinct, familiar “fragrance” that he immediately associated with his friend, whom he affectionately called ‘Gudda.’
The event concluded on a high note, mirroring the vibrant energy of Bal’s previous shows. The showstopper, models, and the brand’s creative team gathered on the runway to dance, prompting an emotional and rousing standing ovation from the audience.
