The newest installment in the acclaimed franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, has officially launched, bringing a host of new features across its three core modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. The title emphasizes connectivity through a new unified progression system and introduces an extensive, high-stakes extraction mode.
1. The Co-op Campaign and Story
The narrative of Black Ops 7 is set in 2035 and features a cooperative campaign for 1 to 4 players—a first for the franchise. The story directly continues from Black Ops II, with players taking on the role of David Mason, who leads a Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) team.
The team is dispatched to Avalon, an expansive Mediterranean city, to investigate a complex conspiracy. The plot involves two major parties: the returning antagonist Raul Menendez and a powerful tech conglomerate known as The Guild. Missions will send players across diverse global locations, including Nicaragua and Tokyo, as they work to uncover the true motives of both factions.
2. New Mode: Endgame
A major addition to the game is the Endgame Mode, a massive extraction experience that unlocks once players complete the 11 main campaign missions.
- Player Count: Supports up to 32 players in squads of up to four.
- Objective: Players must explore the secrets of Avalon, destroy strongholds controlled by The Guild, and manage exposure zones that are leaking dangerous toxins.
- Progression & Risk: The mode features unique Skill Trees and Combat Ratings, and while players can level up weapon rarity at workbenches, progress is not permanent. All earned gear and progress is lost if the player is killed in action, creating a high-risk, high-reward environment.
3. Multiplayer and Zombies
Multiplayer
The competitive multiplayer features the evolved Omnimovement system to enhance player fluidity. At launch, the game includes a mix of map sizes:
- Standard Maps: 16 maps designed for traditional 6v6 gameplay.
- Large-Scale Maps: 2 maps built for larger 20v20 engagements.
Zombies
The fan-favorite Round-Based Zombies mode makes its return, set within the ominous Dark Aether. This entry boasts the largest Round-Based Zombies map in the history of the Black Ops series, offering a colossal new playground for survival.
4. Unified Progression System
Black Ops 7 features a unified progression system that links all major game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.
- Cross-Mode Earning: Experience (XP), weapon levels, and Battle Pass progress can be earned regardless of which mode a player chooses.
- Customization: There are 90 unique weapon camos available at launch, which can be acquired and used across the game’s arsenal.
5. Editions and Availability
The title is available across all current and previous generation consoles and PC, and it is an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Crucially, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available day one for subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
