Exciting news for racing fans: the next installment in the beloved open-world racing series, Forza Horizon 6, is slated for a 2026 launch and will be set in the long-requested location of Japan.
Microsoft officially teased the game during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show live stream, confirming the setting that has been heavily rumored and anticipated by the community since the franchise’s debut. Matt Booty, President of Game Content and Studios at Xbox, acknowledged that Japan has been the most requested location by players.
The teaser suggests players will get to explore a vibrant and diverse open-world environment, encompassing various Japanese regions, including the iconic structures and dazzling neon lights of Tokyo City.
Platforms and Development
The initial release is planned for Xbox consoles and PC. While a PlayStation 5 (PS5) release has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate that the studios are exploring options to bring Forza Horizon 6 to Sony’s console sometime post-launch.
Development is being handled by Playground Games, with reported collaboration from Turn 10 Studios. The official announcement follows an earlier, unconfirmed hint about the game on the Forza Horizon Instagram account and previous comments from Xbox CEO Phil Spencer pointing to a 2026 release for the next main Forza title.
