Losing personal items during travel can be stressful, but one recent incident at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) demonstrates how modern technology can turn a potential disaster into a success story.
A traveler, Jaskaran Singh, who had taken an airport shuttle bus, realized just before checking in that he had accidentally left his backpack onboard the vehicle. With the shuttle already departed, the situation seemed difficult.
However, the traveler’s simple act of paying for his shuttle ticket digitally became the key to recovery. Because he had used a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application for the transaction, a digital record of the payment existed. Airport staff were able to leverage this digital trail to quickly identify the specific bus number on which the transaction occurred.
Using this information, the staff located the correct shuttle, and the traveler’s forgotten bag was successfully retrieved.
The relieved traveler shared the experience on social media, praising the city’s approach to problem-solving. “Love how this tech city solves everything,” he wrote, extending his gratitude to the staff member, Mr. Ravi, who provided the crucial assistance.
The post went viral, with many commenters applauding the efficiency of the airport’s system and the helpfulness of the personnel, highlighting a positive aspect of life in “Namma Bengaluru” (Our Bengaluru). The story serves as a testament to how integrated digital systems and attentive staff can significantly enhance the passenger experience.
