Sharma achieved the milestone during the fifth T20I against Australia at the Gabba, completing his 1,000th run in only 528 balls. This achievement places him atop the global T20I charts for this metric, far surpassing the previous record holders.
He also completed the 1,000-run mark in his 29th T20I inning since his debut in July 2024.
The 24-year-old batsman’s performance has been dominant, particularly in the ongoing series against Australia. He is currently the highest-ranked T20I batter in the ICC rankings, holding 925 rating points. Since his debut, no batter with a comparable run tally has maintained a higher strike rate, which stands above 189*. Furthermore, he leads all Full-Member nation batters in the same period with 64 sixes.
