A video showing a Bihar police officer dragging a pregnant woman with his scooter during a confrontation has sparked widespread public outcry and led to an official investigation. The incident occurred on Marine Drive in Patna.

The now-viral footage shows the woman standing directly in front of the officer’s vehicle, apparently attempting to prevent him from moving forward, while instructing her companion to record the scene. Despite her efforts to block his path, the uniformed officer repeatedly attempted to accelerate the scooter, causing it to nudge and slightly drag the woman.

As the dispute escalated, the woman briefly climbed onto the back seat of the vehicle, continuing a heated exchange with the officer. A second officer arrived shortly after and approached the woman’s companion, seemingly trying to de-escalate the situation.

Following the circulation of the video and strong public reaction on social media, the Patna Police issued a statement. They confirmed that they have “taken cognisance of the matter,” acknowledged the incident, and forwarded the footage to the concerned department for immediate investigation. The police department assured the public that once the facts are established, “appropriate action would follow.”
